Flathead Sheriff's Office Deputy Ray Cook helps a woman, who chose not to give her name, pack up her things after she was abused by her husband the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The sheriff's office reported an increased incidence of domestic abuse from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.

Steve Konolay lays in bed at LaMariposa, a long term care facility in Fairfield, Calif. Konolay, who has Multiple Sclerosis, is 51 years old and has lived at the home for the past six years. "I enjoy my life here, but it gets pretty boring being in bed all day," Konolay said. "But that's life, and as long as I'm alive I'm going to enjoy each day as much as possible."
Even summer rain can't keep Megan Hendrichs, 11, from enjoying the swings at the Somers School in Somers, Mont. "I don't mind the rain," Hendrichs said, "I get the playground all to myself."

More than 70 percent of people who served for the US in WWII are dead and more than 1,100 die every day according to the Department of Veteran Affairs. "Some guys around here seem like they're just waiting to die, not me - I'm too busy living." he said.
